You and the Sea

YOU AND THE SEA

You and the sea is a aparthotel located in Ericeira, Portugal. This project takes inspiration from its surrounding: the Atlantic, it’s waves and foam, the misty fog and the beach vibe on this ever popular surf destination.
We designed their website, the graphic identity, the hotel signage system, textiles, all stationery and lots of small branding collateral needed to create a unique guest experience. A blue and foamy haze, a combination of handwritten and clear sans-serif fonts, fun puns, on recycled or natural materials, make the laid back, off-to-the-beach mood of this identity.

Sign systems are mostly rigid and very formal. For You and the sea we wanted the signage to have the same laid back feel as the rest of the place. Like a hand note you would leave your surf buddy before you head off to catch the morning wave. We made this work by combining both hand drawn and modern typography, with doodle-like icons, applied directly on walls and doors or to white washed wooden boards.

We are firm believers that branding shouldn’t resume to just placing a project’s logo on everything you do. That’s why we designed postcards, so guests can make their friends jealous or just so they can always remember the days spent by the sea.
All printed materials on cyclus sustainable 100% recycled paper, kraft paper envelopes and natural unvarnished wood for pencils and beach towel tokens.
