JANGADA
Designing for children is a privilege. It makes you enter the magic world of childhood nostalgia. From Tom Sawyer to Calvin. Boy scouts and tree houses. Moonrise kingdom, the Goonies and secret missions led by low battery walkie talkies. Playmobil, legos and worn out books at our grandparents. Riding our bikes to the forest, our dog beside us. And the coming back home, too late, scuffed knees, burnt skin with that fuzzy feeling of endless days.
Jangada is a quality basics children’s brand. We worked on the logo, concept, graphic identity, packaging, copy and online shop.
We had little humans draw our patterns with the unmistakable texture of felt pen. We picked from the colours of the collection: navy, lilac and hues of green. We tested vintage references against modern techniques.
All the brand is but attention to detail. The packaging is a 100% recycled and recyclable shipping box that doubles as a board game complete with gingham tissue paper, great for every paper hoarder like us to keep and re-use as gift wrapping paired with a nice string, topped with custom stickers. The paper labels are made of seeded paper that you can rip and plant after use. The fabric labels for Jangada reflect the brand’s intention of making clothes that last, that can be passed on to brothers, cousins or friends. The final result is a brand that speaks to my 6 year old self but also to the most demanding of mothers.
